ATO One is a smart water replenishing device for meeting the needs of using RO water filter system. A new Alternanthera variant, also labeled as Alternanthera reineckii Rosanervig. This colourful, well-growing plant is characterised by its vivid pink leaves with lighter-coloured leaf veins. Under water, it has a relatively compact growth habit, comparable with Alternanthera reineckii ‘Mini’, and it is great as colourful accent in the middle ground or in the foreground, given that it is trimmed regularly. Like most Alternanthera variants, Alternanthera reineckii Rosanervig prefers good light and an abundant nutrient supply as well as additional CO2 injection for good growth and intensive colours.
Ludwigia senegalensis is relatively new to aquaristics. Its interesting leaf pattern, together with its brick red colour, discerns it from other stem plants. It first became known as Ludwigia sp. “Guinea” in the hobby. Apparently it was imported from Guinea, however, this is not verified information. L. senegalensis is rather widely distributed in Africa – from Senegal to Angola to the Sambesi river in northern Sambia – and it is found emerged and submerged in various wet places up to a height of 1100 m above sea level.
Ludwigia senegalensis is relatively new in the hobby. Its interesting leaf pattern, together with its brick-red colour, distinguishes it from other stem plants. It first was introduced as Ludwigia sp. “Guinea”. This name hints at its being imported from Guinea first, however, information is scarce. L. senegalensis is rather widely spread in Africa – from Senegal to Angola and to the Zambezi river in northern Zambia – where it grows in different wet locations, emersed and submersed, up to a height of 1100 m above sea level.When cultivated emersed, the plant develops a creeping growth habit, whereas its submersed shoots grow upright.
As breathtaking as this plant may be, it needs some things for optimal growth. First and foremost, it needs a lot of light and should thus not be placed in the shade or in poorly lit areas of the aquarium. A good supply of micronutrients is a must, too, as its shoot tips tend to blacken and may even die off if there is a deficiency. Fertilise with around double the dosage as given by the manufacturer. Macronutrient levels should also be ample, as L. senegalensis grows to its full potential with nitrate at around 20 mg/l and phosphate at around 2-3 mg/l. If you plant in groups, don’t plant too densely, or else the plants will generally stay smaller and lose their lower leaves.Under very much light and in a good current, the stems can be grouped closer together. Soft water seems to have a positive effect on its growth.
Echinodorus tenellus “Sharp Leaf” – is a carpeting grass that is, in many ways, similar to Eleocharis parvula (otherwise known as ‘hairgrass’), but has slightly larger, coarser leaves which have an almost feather like appearance. As a result of that difference, it has a coarser, thicker appearance in the aquarium which creates a more rugged, wild atmosphere that can be very appealing and a little bit different.
In addition to using it as a carpeting plant in medium to large aquariums, it can be used to great effect in nano aquariums too. In nano tanks it works well as a background plant where the foreground is covered largely by carpeting plants like Eleocharis parvula or Micranthemum ‘monte carlo’.
Echinodorus tenellus “Sharp Leaf” grows by sending out runners, making it a perfect carpeting plant which can form a very dense carpet. It is a fast growing plant that can achieve great results in a relatively short period of time.
Eleocharis tenellus will form a much better carpet if CO2 is used in the aquarium and adequate lighting is also important. If algae develops on the plant, simply prune it by cutting off the affected leaves and removing them from the aquarium.
The plant Proserpinaca Palustris (Mermaid Weed) is a common aquatic plant that is well spread out in the South Eastern United States as well as South America. The plant is known to grow in wetlands although it grows in variety of conditions due to its tolerant nature to varying conditions. The plant usually exhibits a variety of characteristics in the way it looks and grows. The plant has grown into a wide range of varieties that are dependent on the region it grows in. It is a good aquatic plant even for the beginners in the hobby because it easily adapts to changing conditions.
Proserpinaca Palustris (Mermaid Weed) is considered by many as one of the most beautiful freshwater aquarium plants owing to its leaves that look intricate and the vivid coloration the plant exhibits. It can be grown as a freshwater aquarium plant to help give the aquarium a great look. It is one plant that if given the right growing conditions will help make a great addition to your aquarium owing to the beauty that its leaves usually exude. When grown in an aquarium setting, it is best to offer it sufficient carbon dioxide supplementation. The plant isn’t so demanding therefore as a beginner you can actually take it home to grow it in your own aquarium.

Cryptocoryne wendtii is one of the most popular, and widely available aquatic plants in the aquascaping hobby. It has several color variations, and it can be found in green, red and brown colors. The size and texture of the leaves can vary greatly. This plant was originally native to Sri Lanka. It is commonly found in streams and rivers throughout Sri Lanka, and it tends to grow in shaded areas.
Ludwigia glandulosa from North America is a very beautiful water plant. It is slow-growing and requires CO2 addition to grow well. Stems become 15-40 cm tall and 5-12 cm wide. The leaves turn greener if sufficient light is not provided. The intense red color will show in this plant if the ideal conditions are provided.
