The halogens act both as antioxidants and oxidative agents within the soft tissue and mucus layer of corals, reducing the possibility of coral bleaching.
In active reef systems, these elements are depleted quickly due to their high oxidative abilities and reactivity with organic materials. Iodine and bromine are related to the pink chromo-protein (pocciloporin).

Chlorella is a unique algae that grows in fresh water. It is extremely high in enzymes, vitamins and minerals, including the full vitamin-B Complex. It is over-flowing with unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, and proteins. There are also vitamins found in Chlorella including: Vitamin C, pro-vitamin A (B-carotene), thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), pyridoxine (B6), niacin, pantothenic acid, folic acid, Vitamin B12, biotin, choline, Vitamin K, lipoic acid, and inositol. A frequent occurrence in reef systems is low pH, while calcium and alkalinity are at optimal levels. Raise one and the others may fall. One of the primary reasons for this is an improper carbonate/bicarbonate ratio. The buffer ratio changes as a natural consequence of the buffer's ability to counteract acidifying sources such as organic acids (produced naturally from waste) or introduced from non-pH controlled husbandry products. In this case, adding more buffer would unnecessarily result in a rise in alkalinity and a drop in calcium. The first product of its kind, balance™ ends this see-saw effect. It resets this ratio by converting bicarbonate into carbonate in order to reassert a higher pH without affecting calcium level.
balance™ is an optimized blend of sodium and potassium hydroxides with a NSW ratio (27:1) of sodium to potassium to avoid ionic imbalance with long term use.
aquavitro offers other solutions designed to address the unique challenge of raising pH in a reef environment. Ions addresses the problem of low magnesium which is a cause of low buffering pK and pH. AmGuard is the strongest liquid ammonia binder on the market. It works within minutes to detoxify free ammonia, and it doesn't degrade for nearly 72 hours. That's at least twice as long as our competitors products. Unlike competing products, AmGuard converts it into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tanks biofilter. It does not alter pH.
Ammonia can exist in two forms: free and ionized. It is only the free form that is toxic. Traditional ammonia test kits convert all ammonia to free ammonia by raising pH to 12–14; at this pH AmGuard cannot function and thus a false positive reading will result. For long term ammonia control, use Seachem Stability® and Matrix. Use Ammonia Alert® or MultiTest Free & Total Ammonia to directly monitor levels of free ammonia. AmGuard also removes chlorine and chloramines.

Cichlid Lake Saltâ„¢ is a chemically sound blend of salts designed to replicate the natural environment of Rift Lake African Cichlids. It contains all physiologically essential elements such as magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium, and includes trace components such as iron, aluminum, and iodide.
Although the major Rift Lakes contain basically the same mineral salts, they do so in greatly differing concentrations. Cichlid Lake Salt™ is formulated so that dosages vary depending on the lake of origin and need only be added when setting up an aquarium or with water changes. Many competing products are little more than combinations of Epsom salt and bicarbonate of soda. This will not provide a complete replication of the mineral salts that are contained in the lakes of Africa, in particular calcium and potassium. Seachem’s Tanganyika Buffer™ (pH 9.0–9.4) and Malawi/Victoria Buffer™ (pH 7.8–8.4) should be used to adjust carbonate hardness and pH.

Now you can easily mount your Hydra 32 or 64 LED light with one of the simplest methods available; the Hydra LED Flex Arm. The sleek look of the mounting arm is enhanced by the silicone sleeve over the flexible portion of the mounting arm. The design of the arm mounting bracket lets the arm spin into the perfect position while holding the light securely, right where you want it.
Each Flex Arm comes with clamps to secure the 32 or 64 series of LED lights along with tank mounting brackets that work with aquariums up to 1.2" thick. The mount is designed for rimless tanks, however they can be adapted to rimmed tanks fairly easily.
