Replenishment of a number of trace elements is required to maintain an environment ideal for the growth and reproduction of marine life, but while the importance of trace elements has been recognized by aquarists for many years, the physiological reasons are not fully understood. The chemical elements in seawater are varied, and, likewise their addition to the aquarium in trace quantities has varied effects on a variety of saltwater plant and invertebrate species. In general, though, these elements are important for metabolic processes and pigment formation. Addition of iron, for instance, has been shown to benefit coloring and growth for corals, anemones, and other photosynthetic animals.
Marine Trace supplies a broad range of trace elements demonstrated to be necessary for proper fish health and growth. Unlike terrestrial animals, fish obtain nutrients from both their food and environment. Trace elements are normally depleted by utilization, oxidation and precipitation, thus it is important to restore them on a regular basis. Marine Traceâ„¢ contains only those elements actually demonstrated to be required by fish.

Marine Buffer® will safely raise marine pH to 8.3. It will not raise pH above 8.3 even if inadvertently overdosed. Marine Buffer® is a blended product and is not just sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate, commonly sold as a substitute. Such products can raise pH to dangerous levels if not used properly. Marine Buffer® contains sodium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, and potassium salts of carbonate, bicarbonate, chloride, sulfate, and borate. Use Seachem's MultiTest Marine pH & Alkalinity to check pH and total alkalinity. Use Marine Trace™ to restore the proper level of trace and feed NutriDiet® Marine Flakes for thriving, healthy saltwater fish.
Total Alkalinity is a measurement of three main ions: carbonate, bicarbonate, and borate. In saltwater, bicarbonate drives the pH toward 7.8, carbonate drives pH toward 9.1, and borate toward 9.5 or more. Because of the chemistry of buffering systems, the closer you get the pH to the pK of a buffering system, the harder it is for the pH to shift. So, if you blend a buffer so that the combined product drives the pH toward 8.3, then the more you use, the more stable the pH becomes. That is the principle behind Marine Buffer. It is a blended buffer that drives and holds your pH at 8.3 because of the blend. The catch to this seemingly simple solution is that most salt mixes contain substantial amounts of bicarbonate salts. This shifts the pK of the buffering system further towards 7.8, and a buffer that shoots for 8.3 will never quite get there. Thus, the pK of Marine Buffer is actually slightly higher than 8.3 in order to combat the influx of bicarbonate at every water change. Marine Buffer was the first buffer on the market which contained borate salts (which make a saltwater buffering system much more stable), and Marine Buffer remains the most effective pH buffer on the market for marine aquaria.

The Feeding Station is a unique tool for making the feeding of flake foods and other floating foods more efficient. The Feeding Station floats on the surface of the aquarium water and adheres easily to glass or acrylic surfaces. It provides a stationary zone where fish can return repeatedly to feed while containing floating foods within a limited space. The food does not scatter across the aquarium water surface, which helps to reduce clogging of filters or skimmers.
Ideal for aquariums equipped with over-flow type set up.
Reduces waste and therefore has a positive impact on water quality.
Allows one to target feed slower or weaker fish.

CupriSorb is a powerful adsorbent of copper and heavy metals. CupriSorb will remove copper more rapidly and efficiently than carbon and is thus ideal for emergency copper removal. It extracts all types of copper, including chelated copper, and remains effective until it turns a deep blue-black color. It may be regenerated repeatedly. If placed in continuous use, it will gradually extract even precipitated copper from the gravel/substrate bed as well. CupriSorb will allow maintenance of invertebrates in copper-treated tanks by removing copper leaching from substrates.
CupriSorb is a powerful copper specific chelating resin. Competing products are not chelating products, but merely cation exchange resins. Such resins can remove copper from freshwater but are ineffective in saltwater.

A unique blend of sediments that duplicate tropical fringing coastal mangrove environments.
Mineral Mud™ particles are in a size range compatible with soft, burrowing infaunal, macro animal assemblages. Ideal for mud refugiums, seagrasses, macro-algaes, and mangroves, Mineral Mud™ provides a variety of trace elements plus calcium, strontium, iron, sulfur and free carbon. In addition, Mineral Mud™ contains live marine bacteria to complete the tropical ecosystem.
Frequently Asked Questions
In what type of reactor would I use Mineral Mud™?
Mineral Mud™ is actually a refugium media that is meant to be used in a refugium type aquarium with lighting and with plants and algae growing in it. Mineral Mud™ quickly establishes an anaerobic denitrifying bed and acts as a wonderful media for growing most types of marine aquatic plants and algae. This creates an ideal environment for nutrient export, (through algae and plants), and micro faunal growth. It can be used alone or with a ½ to 1” cap of live or dry aragonite
Directions
For mud filters, empty jar into filter, then mix slightly, and add water (a “cap” of approximately 1/2 to 1 inch of live or dry aragonite sand is suggested). Wait 2-3 days, then begin pumps, and allow system to clear water (may take 1-2 days). Then add macro-algae, seagrasses, or mangroves. Allow tank to cycle, then add fish and corals into main tank. If using Mineral Mud™ in main tank, mix into a small area where you intend to plant your macro-algaes, seagrasses, or mangroves. Do not cover the entire tank bottom.
Run pumps for a day or two until water clears, then add plants.
NOTE: This substrate contains marine organics, and was created to mimic coastal marine mangrove environments. It is designed to reach anaerobic conditions within an inch of the sub-strate/water interface. Once established, avoid disturbing the bed.

The ATI Phosphat Stop Filter Media for Aquariums is a high-efficiency phosphate absorber based on iron hydroxide. It is capable of removing phosphate from both seawater and freshwater quickly and efficiently. It eliminates phosphate, silicate, arsenic, and other dissolved organic waste while also preventing algae formation and improving coral health. The phosphate cannot be released once it has been bound. Even if it is left after its service life has expired, nothing is leached back into the water. ATI phosphate stop is ideal for use in reef aquariums because it does not introduce any harmful substances into the water and may aid in the reduction of certain heavy metals
CaribSea ARM Coarse Reactor Media contains calcium, carbonate, and trace elements.
Nearly 50x the Strontium of other brands (7390ppm)
Precision grading allows for maximum carbon dioxide penetration
No gastropod shells means the lowest phosphate content (less than 1/10th of 1ppm)
Highest solubility of any reactor media (metastable at 8.2
One of the most trusted media for calcium reactors in the industry. The media is a complete solution which includes both calcium and carbonate as well as essential trace elements.
The media comes in three forms Small, Coarse and Extra Coarse.
Small – Provides the most surface area which maximizes the amount of calcium and carbonate which can be added to the tank. *The small size can clog many reactors and may require on-going maintenance.
Coarse – larger size granules which are less likely to clog equipment.
Extra Coarse – Largest size granules and the least likely to clog equipment which results in the lowest maintenance option.

Iodide is a critical element for the health and formation of soft tissue in invertebrates (such as gorgonians, sarcophytons, etc). It has also been shown to be critical for the development of pigments in corals, corallimorpharia, and anemones, both the golden brown of zooxanthellae and the green and red colors of accessory pigments.
Most iodide supplements on the market are simply potassium iodide. When added to an aquarium environment, iodide becomes unstable converting to elemental iodine (which is biocidal) and iodate (which is useless to corals, toxic at elevated levels, and can't be tested for). Iodide is the only form of iodine available to corals for uptake. Because of this instability, iodide must be stabilized for aquarium use.
vibrance™ is a highly concentrated (10,000 mg/L) naturally stabilized potassium iodide source for reef aquaria that will restore and maintain iodide levels to those found in natural sea water. Our proprietary stabilization process makes vibrance™ the most stable iodide supplement available. It's also the most concentrated and comes with a pipette for precision dosing. It is formulated to provide a safe source of iodide that will not convert to toxic free iodine under storage or reef conditions.
