  • ADA TISSUE CULTURE - ANUBIAS BARTERI GLABRA LC119

ADA ADA TISSUE CULTURE - ANUBIAS BARTERI GLABRA LC119

    Out of stock

ADA Anubias barteri glabra is a medium-sized Anubias that comes from rainforest streams in West Africa. There are several different forms of the variety glabra with more or less elliptic to lanceolate leaves. It is also sold under the names Anubias minima and Anubias “Kruising”. The variety ADA Anubias barteri glabra is as as undemanding and robust as many other Anubias forms. It grows well as epiphyte on the hardscape as well as fixed to the substrate (don’t bury the rhizome!). Its narrow, lanceolate leaves are an interesting contrast to other, rather broad-leaved Anubias forms. Anubias barteri var. glabra is widely spread in West Africa, from Guinea to Gabun. The plant forms dense populations on river banks and rocks in and on forest rivulets, where they often share the same habitat with Bolbitis heudelotii and Crinum natans. The variety glabra really is a collective term for various Anubias barteri forms that grow to different sizes, their leaves oval to lanceolate. They cannot always be clearly discerned from other varieties of the species. A. barteri var. angustifolia with its longish leaf blades, e.g., looks rather similar. Relatively small ADA Anubias barteri glabra plants have been imported from Cameroun under the synonym Anubias minima, they are still carried under that name in trade. A. barteri var. glabra is as undemanding as var. nana and can be bound to rocks or driftwood as an epiphyte as the latter, or stuck between rocks, attached to the glass with suckers or planted in the substrate. Then the rhizome should remain uncovered.

This Cryptocoryne is a remarkable novelty from India. It is a form of Cryptocoryne spiralis but resembles much red-brown forms of Cryptocoryne albida that does not occur in India. As well as other narrow-leaved Cryptocorynes, this plant should get at least medium lighting. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommendable. Until now little is known about this plant. With its striking dark striped, red-brown, very narrowly lanceolate leaves, Cryptocoryne spiralis ‘Tiger’ provides an interesting accent in the aquarium midground.

Glossostigma elatinoides is a very popular plant for Japanese-style tanks. It is one of the smallest aquarium plants, which makes it ideal for the foreground. A difficult-to-care-for plant that needs a lot of light. If the lighting is too weak, it tends to grow upwards. Must not be shaded off by larger plants. When planting, make small tufts (approx. 1/8 of the pot) and plant at a distance of only a few centimetres. Thus you will get a ground-covering group in less time. The injection of CO2 and soft water enhance growth considerably.

Hemianthus callitrichoides ‘Cuba’ HC is one of the smallest aquarium plants in the world, and creeps over the bottom with millimetre-sized, round leaves. Hemianthus callitrichoides is an attractive and popular foreground plant for small aquariums. It is not a difficult plant, but it requires good conditions such as enough light, added CO2, water circulation and fertilizer to thrive. If these conditions are hard to create, you may use Micranthemum ‘Monte-Carlo’ as an alternative, as it is less demanding.Small pearls or bubbles of oxygen are often produced on top of the plants, adding a very lively aspect to the carpet. If planted in small clumps a few centimetres apart, it will spread rapidly and cover the bottom like a carpet. Trim the carpet regularly, otherwise the lower parts will not get enough light causing root death.Found on Cuba, west of Havana.

ADA ADA Tissue Culture Callicostella prabaktiana

    Out of stock

This moss is delivered as a novelty from ADA company. Callicostella prabaktiana is widespread in Southeast Asia where it occurs in moist to wet habitats, i.a. on stream edges. It is able to grow above and under water. In aquariums this medium to dark green moss has a creeping growth habit and attaches itself on wood or rock. Callicostella prabaktiana grows slowly under aquarium conditions but is not very demanding. However we recommend at least medium lighting and a good CO2 and nutrient supply. It is best tied to driftwood or stones. This rare moss is interesting for the greening of the hardscape, also in small aquariums.

  • ADA Tissue Culture Lagenandra Keralensis

ADA ADA Tissue Culture Lagenandra Keralensis

    Out of stock

This species is not to be confused with an aquarium plant that is erroneously called “Lagenandra keralensis” and turned out as a narrow-leaved Lagenandra meeboldii form (see Lagenandra meeboldii “Kerala”). The true Lagenandra keralensis resembles broad-leaved forms of L. meeboldii but differs mainly in inflorescence features. The ovate leaves, sitting on a creeping rhizome, show brown tones. They have a finely ruffled margin and are covered with short hairs. According to the original species description, the leaf blades are 2,7-7 cm and the leaf stalks 2-7 cm long. Until now, virtually no information about the aquarium culture of Lagenandra keralensis is available. This species occurs naturally on shady stream banks, as well as several other Lagenandra species. Its requirements are probably comparable with those of Lagenandra meeboldii. We recommend medium lighting, good water current, CO2 injection and well-balanced macro- and micronutrient supply, also via the substrate. Its emersed culture should work with a moist to wet substrate and high air humidity.

    Out of stock

Lagenandra meeboldii is a very variable swamp plant from southwestern India. It occurs naturally on swampy streambanks where it is flooded during times of high water level. It can be grown permanently submerged in aquariums. There are several forms of Meebold's Lagenandra with different leaf shapes and colorations. Lagenandra meeboldii 'Green' is a form with light to medium green leaves. As an aquarium plant, this Lagenandra prefers a nutrient-rich substrate and not too low light. It forms a thick, creeping rhizome that with time develops side shoots. The plant can be propagated by cutting off the daughter plants. Lagenandra meeboldii 'Green' is well suited as a green, quite broad-leaved accent plant in the midground

This Lagenandra from the south-west of India has not long been known as an aquarium plant. In Europe, it is also found in trade under the name Lagenandra meeboldii "Pink", but it differs from the plant traded under the same name in the USA. This Lagenandra looks a lot like a medium-sized wide-leaved Cryptocoryne. Under good light, it has a nice orange-brown to pink leaf color. It grows to 10 to 30 cm in height and has a spreading growth habit. Other than most crypts, it does not form underground runners but has a thick rhizome. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommendable for Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red'.

ADA ADA TISSUE CULTURE LIMNOPHILA SP VIETNAM IC419

1 in stock Delivery in 2-5 Days  Excluding Weekends and Public Holidays

Limnophila sp. “Vietnam” has only been known in Europe since around 2010 in the aquarium hobby, and it is still hard to come buy. This delicate plant is a great discovery for aquascaping. Given that it is under intensive light it develops creeping well-ramifying 3 to 4 cm wide shoots, which makes it a great ground cover. Dense populations grow higher after some time, comparable to the much slower-growing Staurogyne repens. With L. sp. “Vietnam” you can create dense bushes that can be kept in form by regular trimming. This plant is especially well-suited for “mountain” layouts, e.g. creeping down a hill or as light green accent between rocks and driftwood. Its decorative appearance is enhanced by its very narrow, pointed leaves growing in whorls and the star-like shoot tips. Under strong light, the central veins of the leaves and the stems can assume a reddish hue.

ADA ADA TISSUE CULTURE MICROCARPAEA MINIMA IC299

1 in stock Delivery in 2-5 Days  Excluding Weekends and Public Holidays

Microcarpaea minima is a small, tender wetland plant from Southeast Asia, Japan and northern Australia that is able to grow above and under water. It occurs in and by shallow, warm, periodic waters such as puddles and rice fields, also on riverbanks. It is the only species of the genus Microcarpaea and belongs to the same family as Glossostigma (Phrymaceae). It was first introduced as aquarium plant from West Kalimantan by Wim Tomey (Netherlands) and is still a rarity in the aquarium hobby. In the tissue culture line of ADA it is labeled as Microcarpaea minima Merrill; the last part is the author citation of the species name.In its terrestrial form this plantlet forms low cushions with 3-5 cm long, narrow leaves and small, pale purple flowers on thin stems. The submerged stems grow rather upright, much branched and a little chaotic in all directions, with up to 20 mm long and 1-2 mm wide leaves. This plant is not too difficult to grow but benefits much from rather strong lighting, soft to medium hard water and CO2 addition. It is considered as thermophilic, so the temperature should be well above 20 °C. The planting of the tender stems may be a little fiddly and is best done with tweezers. The growing, spreading bushes can be kept low by trimming. Microcarpaea minima may be still little known to aquascapers. It looks decorative as a low, light green bush or small carpet in the foreground or midground and fits well into small tanks. With its narrow, almost needle-like leaves it contrasts from many other foreground plants. Its cushion-like terrestrial form may also be interesting for emersed setups where one may expect its tiny flowers and fruit capsules.
